The D90 incorporates powerful communications capabilities required for the
demanding applications anticipated in future substations. The communications module is
dedicated to processing the IEC 61850, DNP 3.0, and IEC 60870-5-104 protocols. This
module provides redundant Ethernet ports each with 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX
connectors.
Modbus RTU and DNP3.0 are also available as default protocols through the RS485 port or
the CPU Ethernet ports (slot D).

The D90 is available as a 19-inch rack horizontal mount and consists of a number of
optional and required modules. Each of these modules can be supplied in a number of
configurations specified at the time of ordering. The information required to completely
specify the system is provided in the following table.
