Repair instructions

Display problems

If the display suffers of problems such as missing/defect segments, black lines, blank or fading
content, first of all try to solve the problem by exchanging display module I007, which is
responsible in most of all cases. Whenever replacing I007, make sure that the new item is not
placed tilted!
In case the problem persists after exchanging display module I007, check whether the problem is
caused by a defect hinge flex. In case of doubt retest the phone with a new mechanical sub-
assembly A4.
In some cases the reason for display problems is a poor soldered or mechanical damaged
connector X817. Therefore, check connector and its solder joints and replace it if necessary. In
some further cases a defect filter Z402 has been found responsible for display problems. If all the
above mentioned does not solve the problem, most probably UPP D370 is defect; it is underfilled
and therefore not changeable.

Keypad functionality problems

In case of keypad problems, first of all check whether the keymat I003/I206 (depending on which
key does not work) is mounted correctly. For more details also check RM-25 service bulletin 006!
In case of problems with the function keys, try to solve the problem by exchanging the mechanical
subassembly A4. This assy includes also the UI-module and it´s domesheet, which is responsible in
most of all cases if a function key does not work properly. In case the problem remains, especially
check connector X817 if mechanically damaged or poor soldered.
In case of problems with the main keypad, first of all exchange the UI-flex assembly and retest the
unit. If this does not solve the problem, especially check mechanical condition and solder joints of
board-to-board connector X400.
Only in few cases the filters Z401 or Z814 have been found responsible for keypad problems. If the
problem persists after exchanging probably defect mechanical items and also the filters, the root
cause usually is a defect UPP D370. As this part is underfilled, it is not possible to exchange it.

Vibra motor faulty

In most of all cases, when there is a problem with the vibra motor, the spring contacts of the
motor I217 themselves are bent or soiled. Nevertheless, always ensure that the contact pads for
the vibra motor on the UI-flex are clean. If necessary clean the pads with alcohol; but never use any
scratching or rubbing tool for cleaning purposes! In case of doubt exchange UI-flex I209; also check
mechanical condition and solderings of board-to-board connector X400.
