Chapter 13 Upgrading an iDCS500 to an
This chapter describes how to upgrade an existing iDCS500 system to an OfficeServ500
system. For this, you require replacement SmartMedia, MCP2, LCP2 and SCP2 cards. (Your
iDCS500 system uses MCP, SCP and LCP cards.) You will, of course, also require any new
equipment you want to use with the upgraded system.
Refer to the relevant chapters in this manual as you work through each step of the
procedure. For example, see Chapter 4 for installing interface cards, and Chapter 7 for
installing station equipment, and so on.
Procedure
1. Back up your system database using PCMMC.
2. Ensure the system power is switched off.
3. Replace the MCP card with the MCP2 card.
First, remove any daughterboards from the MCP card and install them on the MCP2 card.
(NB: An IPM or LAN board is not required on an MCP2 card.)
Also, install the SmartMedia card containing the OfficeServ500 version of the software.
4. Replace the SCP card and LCP card with the SCP2 and LCP2 card, respectively.
5. Install the additional hardware that will be used in the upgraded system (for example,
VoIP related modules, large LCD phones).
6. Change the LAN port from the IOM card to the MCP2 front panel LAN port. Only SIO2
and SIO3 can be used as the system input/output port, and should be relocated when
necessary.
7. Restart the system with the new SmartMedia card.
8. Run MMC 811 (Reset System) to reset the system with default data.
9. Restore the converted system database using PCMMC.
