Security Features

!
To avoid unauthorised access to your wireless network, you should use
one of the following security features.
WEP encryption
This screen is accessed by selecting Security: WEP on the Network screen. A sample
WEP screen is shown below.
38
The connection Mode determines the type of wireless com-
munication used by the Gigaset WLAN Camera.
u
If you have an Access Point, select Infrastructure.
u
Otherwise, select Ad-hoc.
Select the appropriate value – Open System or Shared Key,
as used on your WLAN.
Note: In Infrastructure mode, both settings will normally
work, since most Access Points can use both methods.
This must match the value used by other devices on your
wireless LAN.
Note! The SSID is case sensitive.
Select your region from the drop-down list.
u
In Infrastructure mode, this setting is ignored. The
Gigaset WLAN Camera will use the channel set on the
Access Point.
u
For Ad-hoc mode, select the channel you wish to use on
your Gigaset WLAN Camera. Other wireless stations
should use the same setting.
u
If you experience interference (shown by lost connections
and/or slow data transfers) you may need to experiment
with different channels to see which one is the best.
This shows the current security settings:
u
Disabled
u
WEP: WEP encryption (64 or 128 bit)
u
Pre-Shared Key: WPA encryption
After selecting the security feature, click on Apply.
Please refer to the next chapter for configurating the security
settings.
