Customizing the system
To change the default properties for the PLT view
These settings change the way the PLT view looks and functions. You can
temporarily change any of these values from the PLT view, while performing
the analysis.
1. On the Tools menu, click Settings and then click the PLT tab.
2. In the Grid size box, choose how many grid squares you want to divide the
PLT image into.
3. In the PLT count box, choose if you want to count or approximate the
number of PLTs.
• Count PLTs per grid square will let you type the number of PLTs for
• Approximate PLTs per grid square will let you approximate the number
4. In the PLT concentration box, choose how you want to report the PLT
concentration.
• Calculated estimate will report the calculated number of PLT per litre,
• Calculated level will report the calculated level of PLT concentration
• Manual level will let you choose a level of PLT concentration (increased,
To calculate and set the PLT estimate factor
1. Use a cell counter to perform automated PLT counts on 30 consecutive blood
samples.
2. Prepare and stain one smear for each sample.
3. Process the slides with the smears in the system.
4. Perform PLT analysis on the processed slides and let the system calculate the
average PLTs/HPF values for each sample.
5. Calculate the conversion factor for each sample by dividing the PLT value
from the cell counter by the average PLTs/HPF value from the system.
6. Calculate the PLT estimate factor (the average conversion factor), by adding
the conversion factor for each sample and dividing by 30.
7. On the Tools menu, click Settings and then click the PLT tab.
8. In the PLT estimate factor box, type the calculated PLT estimate factor, and
then click Close.
By default, this is set to 0 (zero).

Many bar code errors on cellevision. what can I do?
To resolve barcode errors on the CellaVision DM1200:
1. Ensure the barcode reader cable is properly connected to both the barcode reader and the control unit.
2. Restart the CellaVision DM software.
3. If the barcode is printed directly on a slide, make sure it is on a white, smooth, frosted area.
4. Avoid getting immersion oil on the barcode, as it may prevent proper reading.
5. Ensure barcodes are placed within the specified measurements and aligned correctly.
6. Use supported barcode formats: Code39, Code128, Codabar/NW-7, Interleave 2 of 5 (linear barcodes), or DataMatrix and QR (2D barcodes).
If the issue persists, check all connections and restart the system.
