Overview
In addition to abundant IP network modules, the Quidway
to NE80) provides ATM modules to be compatible with traditional ATM networks, satisfying users'
higher bandwidth and QoS requirements for networking. The NE80 supports the OC-3/STM-1 ATM
optical interface board and the OC-12/STM-4 ATM optical interface board.
The ATM interface board implements functions of the physical layer and the data link layer in
network connections. The sequence of bearing/encapsulation from bottom up is as follows: Optical
signals transmit SONET/SDH frames, SONET/SDH frame container bears the 53-byte ATM cells,
and ATM AAL5 encapsulates IP packets or data packets of other types. The interface line board
extracts data packets from this series of bearing and encapsulation and transmits them to the
network after encapsulation and translation processing.
