Adding your sensor in a Z-Wave network
The door/window sensor can be added to the Z-Wave network automatically or manually. For best results, add the sensor to the network near the
intended location (same room or area) to ensure best communication routes are established.
Automatic mode
1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add the sensor in the Z-Wave network.
2. Once the controller is ready to add your sensor, slide the battery door down and remove (if not mounted to door or window).
3. Remove the plastic battery tab (see figure 1). This activates the sensor and starts the auto-add process. The red LED flashes quickly (see figure 1) as it
searches for a network. The sensor will attempt to search for a network for two minutes, after which, it will time out.
4. The red LED will continue to flash quickly after it locates a network – the controller's app will indicate if it discovers the sensor. If prompted by
the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR code/security number on the back of the box or the QR code label on the product
(see figure 3). Enter the 5-digit code.
5. The red LED will activate for three seconds to confirm the sensor has been added in the network.
Manual mode
1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add the sensor in the Z-Wave network.
2. Once the controller is ready to add your sensor, ensure battery is installed with the correct polarity in the sensor and the battery tab is
removed.
3. Press the programming button (see Figure 2). This starts the manual add process. The red LED (see Figure 2) flashes quickly as it begins the
add process.
4. The red LED will activate for 3 seconds to confirm the sensor has been added in the network.
5. The controller's app will indicate if it discovers the sensor. If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR
code/security number on the back of the box or the QR code label on the product (see figure 3). Enter the 5-digit code.
Note: Your controller may need to be within 10ft. of the sensor to be added.
Using the controller, you can activate interactive automations when the sensor detects when a door or window is opened or closed.
Functions may vary depending on gateway or controller.
To remove the sensor from the Z-Wave network
1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to remove the sensor from the Z-Wave network.
2. Once the controller is ready to remove your sensor, press the programming button on the sensor one time
(see figure 3).
3. The red LED will blink five times to indicate it has been removed.
To disable the LED when the sensor is triggered
1. Quickly press the programming button three times, then press and hold the programming button.
When successful, the LED blinks twice.
2. To revert the LED back to its default ON setting, repeat the same button press sequence in the step above.
When successful, the LED will blink once.
To return the sensor to factory defaults (also removes sensor from the Z-Wave network)
1. Press the programming button 10 times within six seconds (interval between presses of the button cannot be
longer than one second).
2. The red LED will activate for two seconds, followed by three quick flashes.
Note: This should only be used in the event your network's primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
To replace battery
1. Slide battery door down and remove, or if mounted, slide the sensor up and off from battery door.
2. Place sensor on flat surface. While holding securely, press down on lower edge of battery with pen
(see figure 4). This should lift the upper end of battery.
3. When installing new battery, ensure proper polarity (plus side is up). Insert lower end first so battery
is installed under side ribs (see figure 5). Press down on upper end to secure battery.

Preparing the sensor for installation
The Smart Door/Window sensor is designed for indoor use only. Installation of the sensor consists of two parts – the sensor and the magnet. The sensor mounts onto the door or window, and the
magnet mounts to the door frame or window frame. Use only one magnet.
The sensor has two internal detection contacts – vertical or horizontal. This allows for installing on left-opening or right-open doors, or for vertical-opening or horizontal-opening windows.

Narrow and wide magnets are included. The wide magnet is stronger than the narrow magnet. Both offer a discrete appearance and can be positioned on the edge of the frame or the surface
aligned with the edge of the sensor.

The gap distance between the magnet and the sensor will determine which magnet is used (see diagram). Align the magnet with the edge of the sensor. The narrow magnet has a maximum gap
distance of 1/2in. The wide magnet has a maximum gap distance of 1in.

Peel and remove the paper backing from one side of the double-sided tape (included) and apply to the back of the battery door.
Before mounting the sensor, clean and dry the surface of the door or window. Carefully position the sensor on the door
or window and apply firm pressure to secure sensor. The magnets have double-sided tape attached. Remove the paper
backing of the selected magnet. Carefully align with edge of sensor and position magnet within gap distance. When
installing on windows, there may not be any gap distance. After completing installation, slide sensor up and off from
battery door. Sensor is ready to add to the Z-Wave network.

The top cover of the sensor is paintable or removeable. It can be replaced with covers in other colors. To remove the top
cover, slide sensor off the battery door (if mounted) or simply remove battery door. Insert a small, flat screwdriver into side
hole and gently pry apart. Snap on the new cover.
Z-WAVE INTEROPERABILITY
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave
certified devices from other manufacturers and/or other applications. All non-battery
operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to increase
reliability of the network.
