3 Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
Danger
Never immerse the lid or the base in water.
To prevent a short circuit or an electric shock, do
not use water to rinse the outside of the base or lid
(including the control panel, lid plug connector and
lid plug) and keep them away from drip or splash.
Make sure the surface of both lid plug connector
and lid plug is free from liquid or any conductive
medium before putting the lid onto the base.
Warning
Always disconnect the appliance from the supply
if it is left unattended and before assembling,
disassembling or cleaning.
This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep
the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
Appliances can be used by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and if they understand the
hazards involved.
Do not use the inner pot on open flame or on/in
other heating appliances.
Do not take out the inner pot when it is still hot.
Do not touch the inner pot or the base when it is hot
after use.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Keep the appliance and the power cord away from
hot surfaces.
Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance
corresponds to the local mains voltage before you
connect the appliance.

Do not use the appliance if the plugs, the power
cord or the appliance itself are damaged.
Care shall be taken when handling the sharp cutting
blades, during emptying the inner pot and cleaning.
If the power cord is damaged, you must have it
replaced by Philips, a service center authorized by
Philips or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
Make sure that your hands are dry when you
insert the power cord into the appliance and in the
wall socket.
Never use the appliance for dry heating.
Caution
This appliance is intended for household use only. If
the appliance is used improperly or for professional
or semi-professional purposes or if it is not used
according to the instructions in the user manual, the
guarantee becomes invalid and Philips refuses any
liability for damage caused.
Always place the appliance on a dry, flat and stable
surface.
Only connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket.
Do not come close to the steam vent. Do not touch
the steam vent to avoid burns or scalding.
Never use any accessories or parts from other
manufacturers or that Philips does not specifically
recommend. If you use such accessories or parts,
your guarantee becomes invalid.
This appliance is not intended to be operated by
means of an external timer or a separate remote-
control system.
Do not let the appliance run unattended.
Do not let the appliance operate when it is empty.
Do not continuously use the programs.
Never add contents (including water) above MAX
(the maximum level indication) or below MIN (the
minimum level indication).

Beware of hot steam coming out of the appliance
when you remove the lid after preparing hot soup.
Be careful, the cutting edges of the blade are sharp.
Do not move the appliance when it is operating.
Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations regarding
exposure to electromagnetic fields.
4 Cleaning before first use (fig. 3)
Thoroughly clean all parts before you use the appliance for the first time.

Fill the inner pot with hot water up to the MAX indication (fig.

Close the lid (fig.

Open the lid after 10 minutes (fig.

Pour the water out of the inner pot (fig.

Clean the appliance. (see chapter "Cleaning")
Note
• Make sure all parts, especially the inner surface of the base, the inner pot and the overflow
sensor of the lid are dry and clean before use.
• The appliance may initially emit odor during use due to heating from the base. It's normal and
the odor will disappear after several uses.
5 Using the appliance
The soup maker has a blade unit embedded in the lid for blending ingredients, and a 3D
heating element in the base to heat up the inner pot. Therefore, you can use the appliance to
make drinks, soups and meals.
Note
• This appliance is not suitable for making pastry such as making batter, or baking.
• The appliance may initially emit odor during use due to heating from the base. It's normal and
the odor will disappear after several uses.
Panfry program (fig. 4)
Panfry program (
) is to brown some ingredients for adding more taste to the soup
or meal. The maximum time for panfry is about 30 minutes.

Insert the inner pot to the base (fig.

• The two handles should place into the correct place of the base.

Put the mains plug in the wall socket (fig.
» While it is connected, the control panel will light up for 3 seconds and beep once.

Press the on/off button (
) to switch on the appliance (fig.

Press the panfry button (
) to select the temperature (fig.
» The panfry indicator lights up and the display will show the temperature, and the
temperature indicator (
) will light up.

Press the start/pause button (
) to start the panfry program (fig.
» The panfry indicator on the control panel will stay lighting on, and the temperature
of the inner pot will be real time displayed.

Add oil then ingredients when the soup pot reaches to the temperature you select and
the appliance beeps once (fig.
).

» After the appliance beeps, the time for panfrying will start counting on.

• Before adding the oil, make sure the inner pot is dry.

When the lid is closed, the browning function will be ended and the control panel will

Keep stirring the ingredients occasionally during panfry to avoid scorching (fig.

Add other ingredients and the stock after panfry (fig.

• Make sure that the lid is properly closed.

Choose soup program or stew program (fig.
» when you select other program, the panfry program will automatically stop.

Press the start/pause button (
) to start the program (fig.

Remove the mains plug from the wall socket after the program finishes (fig.
» The appliance will beep for six times when the program finishes.
